Passion is the main driving force

This guy that I know has such a huge aura of passion I can feel his energy from a mile off. I admire that about him, he speaks with such dignity, confidence and belief, that every word that comes out of his mouth I cannot help but to feel inspired. And that’s what I think is missing in a lot of our society.

To be a good public speaker, speaking with passion can make the world of a difference. Connect with the crowd, they’re not strangers, they are human beings just like you and me waiting for that connection to bring them closer to you even if they are miles apart.

‘It’s all about the little things’ is a common, over-used phrase but it definitely defines so much about life. You can make such a huge impact to somebody else’s day just by blessing them with “have a lovely day”. Or you could hold open a door for a stranger, help them with a bag or lend a person a pen if you seen them searching through their bag for one.

If you carry passion with you on every step you take throughout your life it will be very hard to go wrong. Passion is a positive emotion and will only attract more positive situations and people into your life. So keep the passion high, know your goals and have your reason of ‘why’ you’re doing something right at the forefront of your mind if you ever get close to doubt.

When music inspires…

Don’t you just love music and the amazing effect it can have on you? One minute you can feel so down that the whole world is against you and the next you play a song that touches your heart and you feel on top of the world. And that’s why I say music and words are my two favourite things in this world.

I believe God blessed the human race with our five senses so we can grow and become better individuals from them. So listening for example, if we could all just listen more in our every day life we may just learn something new. Most of us are great to talk to people but find it difficult to stop and listen, which is why I believe the power of music to be so astronomical. It’s almost like we’re forced to listen and our clever brains remember the words and the next thing we know we are singing along, pouring our hearts out. It’s a beautiful process.

There has been many moments in my 22 years of living where I have played a song on my iPhone or heard a new/old-time favourite on the radio and it has inspired me to do something. All of sudden I am writing, making new plans or even catching up with a friend I haven’t spoke to in a long while. Music takes us back to our roots and it also gives light to new memories. All in all, music is beautiful and it can say a lot about our identity.

Personally I love a mixture of music depending on the mood I’m in. I like anything from Hip-Hop to Reggae to Soul to Jazz. I really would say I’m not fussy in the slightest, all that I am not very fond of is Heavy Metal because all the screaming that comes from it just puts me in a bad mood, and I don’t believe music should have that purpose.

So whether music inspires you to be better that day or it makes you reach for a tissue from a box, embrace and appreciate it and remember the power it has over you. Your mood can always change in an instant. Just play a beautiful song!

Musical break in Leeds

So this weekend I ventured up to Leeds to relax and spend sometime with musicians. I haven’t been to Leeds since I was younger, so the breakaway done me good!

However during my stay I realised just how quick time flies by. Just as I left it felt like I had only just arrived, yet I had achieved so much. Those times when you can be on your own in your own space many of life’s beautiful treasures shine through, and the creativity is immense. Not only did I plan some more of my book but I had time to digest my life to this day, and be thankful for all the people around me that give me the strength to pull through the hard times.

Along the way we certainly endure many challenges but in a weird way, I wouldn’t change it. Without the hard times I would never of grown to be a better person, learn from the mistakes and understand how to do things differently the next time.

Being around musical individuals really pushed my creativity to new levels. Not only that but I found my knowledge rocket, as I asked questions about space and reverb for example. The talent of some people actually blows my mind, and it’s quite funny how people tend to not realise their own talent, thus limiting their confidence to reach their full potential.

I love music. It’s that simple. It has a key to my heart and soul and takes me on a spiritual journey of some sort, depending on the genre of song and memories that come with it. It’s a magical experience and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Music+words=happiest girl in the world.

Build your team

There is no I in TEAM is there? You may have the best idea and the best strategic plan, but without your initial team to help you strive for it and achieve your dream you will never make it no matter how hard you try.

It really is true that communication, contacts and networking is the most valuable asset any one person can have, and this even accounts for students studying trying to get their qualifications. You may be the best writer in the world, but unless you know the right people and you have good skills to help you get recognised, it may only be your bedroom that knows how much of a talented writer you are.

When you analyse any talent that is universally known, behind the scenes they have their teams to do work for them. For example, Justin Bieber takes photographs while he is out and about, but I can almost guarantee you it isn’t him that posts his stuff up on Facebook and Twitter – he will have a Social Media manager who schedules them and tags them in the appropriate way to boost SEO about him as an artist.

See, having a team makes things easier for you and it all starts with association. ‘Association breeds similarity’ – and quite literally – if you have a team of people that share the same vision as you, believe in you and WANT to help you make it, will they not do everything in their power to ensure that happens? Of course they will. Yet if you surround yourself with ’empty’ individuals who have no enthusiasm about what you’re doing, are not willing to help you at times of need and don’t give you enough time of day – I’m pretty sure they will be of little use to you, if any at all.

So build your team and make things happen for you faster. Build that ‘collective intelligence’ within your circle of friends, which can be done by working out who is good at what and helping one another to reach your full potential.

There is no such thing as bad news

‘There is no such thing as bad news.’ By this I mean generally – day to day – when you hear negative comments about you and they can instantly ruin your day but there is something most of us don’t realise.

Those that usually foul horrible language against us are usually jealous, so turn the badness into goodness. Aim to be better when you hear it or read it, don’t change but stay yourself and prove to them and to yourself that you are beautiful because there is only one of you, so love yourself!

Any energy invested in you – whether bad or good – makes you a more powerful being. It gets people talking, speculating, guessing what you’re up to.

People tend to be against positivity because it is much easier to complain than it is to say wise words to the world and make others feel good about themselves. Change is usually frowned upon, that is why the government and those in power like the masses to be ‘sheep’ – followers in other words – so the rich can be rich and the poor can be poor.

Don’t allow yourself to fall into this trap – there is more than enough wealth to go around for the whole world plus more, so just believe and you shall achieve.

The world is yours – literally – so don’t hold yourself back or feel deprived of self-worth because of others. Use their energy to your advantage to achieve exactly what it is you want and desire.

Listening to our thoughts to guide us

We all must of experienced that little thought inside our heads that just informs us of a situation, a decision or sparks a thought to mind. It can encourage us to act on impulse, and whilst many of us naturally respond well to our thoughts, many also consistently reject them and doubt their initial ideas.

Researching into these unexpected thoughts that appear in our minds, I discovered just how important they were.

Always listen to your instinct.

This is exactly the same thing. It’s our intuition. It’s our soul – that little voice inside of our head – that is carefully trying to guide us in the right direction. And this ‘little voice’ is very rarely wrong.

It’s difficult at times to act upon our gut instinct because of many other factors within the human nature.

We fall in love and we may not meet the right guy for us, but we are so happy and comfortable we cannot possibly imagine finding someone better. Or we may be around a group of friends and get a bad vibe from them, or sense that they are not good for you and you should walk away but peer pressure doesn’t allow us to.

The bottom line of this problem comes down to one thing that we can improve as part of personal development: learning to be more strong-minded and to do only what’s right for us. Putting number one first, lead by example and the rest will follow.

Music: Within Me

ss

If it’s not writing I’m thinking about it is music. They come hand in hand, and quite often I have pondered about becoming a musical journalist in my own way; then I realise I simply don’t know enough about the music industry to give it what it takes. The bottom line is: I am obsessed with words, and that is something music echoes continuously in a beautiful, soul-felt way.

It’s crazy how you can be in a particular mood and then you listen to a certain tone of song, and it instantly enlightens you and changes your mood. Or it could be reverse: you may be really happy and a sad, emotional song plays and it takes you down memory lane. Music has been around for so many years and it’s no surprise; it’s truly, madly, deeply beautiful, and it helps shape the person you are.

Something else important to say about the music industry, is that it’s very individual to ones personality and perspective. The type of music you like reflects you as a person, and we relate to songs in ways that delivers a narrative in a virtual way. We connect, it inspired and, most importantly, we feel.

Words put me in place and they help to keep me safe. One of the amazing things in life is taking yourself on a journey that is imaginable beyond measure. If you’re feeling down and grey take yourself where you feel good; whether that’s meditating, dancing, playing sport or, as I do, writing from the soul.

Enjoy it, explore it and express it in any way possible.

Rather Be

Clean Bandit – Inspirational. Definitely up and coming this year. I think we will be hearing a lot more from them. This song touched my soul… the melody is beautiful too.

Clean Bandit, which includes brothers Jack and Luke Patterson, was formed when three of the members were at the University of Cambridge. Clean Bandit have gone straight to the top of the UK singles chart with Rather Be, featuring Jess Glynne.

We’re a thousand miles from comfort, we have traveled land and sea
But as long as you are with me, there’s no place I’d rather be
I would wait forever, exalted in the scene
As long as I am with you, my heart continues to beat

With every step we take, Kyoto to The Bay
Strolling so casually
We’re different and the same, get you another name
Switch up the battery

If you gave me a chance I would take it
It’s a shot in the dark but I’ll make it
Know with all of your heart, you can’t shame me
When I am with you, there’s no place I rather be

We staked out on a mission to find our inner peace
Make it everlasting so nothing’s incomplete
It’s easy being with you, sacred simplicity
As long as we’re together, there’s no place I’d rather be

With every step we take, Kyoto to The Bay
Strolling so casually
We’re different and the same, gave you another name
Switch up the battery

If you gave me a chance I would take it
It’s a shot in the dark but I’ll make it
Know with all of your heart, you can’t shame me
When I am with you, there’s no place I’d rather be

When I am with you, there’s no place I’d rather be

If you gave me a chance I would take it
It’s a shot in the dark but I’ll make it
Know with all of your heart, you can’t shame me

When I am with you, there’s no place I’d rather be

My Say…

When I was in the radio studio with other journos prerecording our Smoke Radio Feature show, one of them pointed out this song. I fell in love with it. It seemed to take me off on a trance, and the lyrics are beautiful.

It’s craziness how much music means to me. Maybe one day I will be a song writer myself, who knows? Combining the two things I love most I would be silly to not give it a shot! Writing and music, my two biggest passions.

It literally lights up my life.
